The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. robot vacuum cleaner cheap and high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large particles and wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
